Torre Fornello
About
In 1998, Enrico Sgorbati started the renovation of the 15th-century medieval “borgo.” He added a modern cellar equipped with the best modern technology for refining and aging the wines in barrels in the XVII century cellar. The vineyards cover 73 hectares, divided into two farms, one cultivated solely for certified organic grapes. Enrico focused on environmental sustainability for 13 hectares of his vineyards to ensure minimal human intervention. As a result, these vineyards have been certified as organic, a focus for Enrico to restore the ancient estate and build a modern winery to elevate the quality and personality of the vines. Enrico’s terroir is essential; his wines must fully reflect the terroir of Piacenza without any interventions that could alter flavors or fragrances. For these reasons, the wines produced by Torre Fornello genuinely reflect the personality of this territory: complex, elegant, enveloping, and balanced. The winery offers a range of around 20 different wines, including red, white, and sparking through its cultivated wide array of vines, including Malvasia Di Candia Aromatica, Pinot Noir, Bonarda, Barbera, and Ortrugo. The winery also grows unique Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon, and Marsanne.
