Le Filigare is an ancient village surrounded by the beauty and poetry of the Tuscan countryside. A land of ancient traditions, a gem nestling between Siena and Florence.
The estate is the property of the Cassetti Burchi family of Florence, who have been producing wines of great quality with much dedication and passion since the 1980s. Running the family business is the son Alessandro who, at the beginning of the ’90s, supervised the restoration of the buildings and saw to the wine and extra virgin olive oil being granted Organic Certification.
Le Filigare is 30 kilometers from Florence and 30 from Siena in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, with 60 hectares of property, of which 15 are vineyards, lying between the typical Tuscan village of San Donato in Poggio and the small town of Castellina in Chianti. A hilly terrain, rich in limestone in the highest parts, and schist in the lower western part, with medium levels of clay and chalk, ensuring good water retention. The altitude of the vineyards varies between 450 and 550 meters above sea level, and the climate is dry and is influenced by the sea, with strong variations in temperature between day and night. The exposure of the vineyards is southeast and southwest.
Our production process follows tradition, supplemented by state-of-the-art technology. Come to the harvest, the grapes are carefully selected and then pass through a malaxator down into the cellar, containing steel vats for alcoholic fermentation and reinforced concrete vats for malolactic fermentation. Each year, our oenologist, Mr. Alberto Antonini, selects the wood to age our Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva, and Gran Selezione.
All of this ensures perfect maturity, not only of the autochthonous grapes, Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino, but also of the “international” varieties: Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
